Bible and SDG’s Devotional

The Bible and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals Devotional was officially released on the opening day of the WEA General Assembly in Seoul, South Korea (Oct. 27, 2025). The devotional—envisioned by Dr. Samuel Richmond, Project Support Officer at the WEA Sustainability Center (WEA-SC), and Matthias Boehning, Co-Director of the WEA-SC—has been several years in the making.

Unique in its vision and depth, this devotional invites believers to see how the timeless truths of Scripture speak to today’s global quest for flourishing—for people, for communities, and for the planet—calling us to love our neighbors, care for creation, and join God’s work of renewal in every sphere of life. As Dr. Richmond writes in the preface, it “invites believers to embody their faith not by withdrawing from the world’s challenges, but by becoming active agents of hope, healing, and renewal.”

In the foreword, Dr. Chris Elisara, Director of the WEA-SC, commends the devotional for “connecting the great needs of the world with the promises of Scripture and the hope of the Gospel.” He adds, “As you pray through these devotionals, may your prayers become part of God’s answer—the renewal of people, places, and creation until Christ is all in all.”

A downloadable version will be available soon.  Information will be posted on the WEA-SC website soon.
