Dr. Hayhoe was invited to be the WEA's Climate Ambassador after many years observing her work, collaborating with her on various projects, and seeing her influence on this issue grow. Be it helping world leaders, national and local leaders, scientific bodies, church leaders, or the average person sitting in a classroom, at a kitchen table, or in a pew, Dr. Hayhoe has a gift for helping people grapple with the tough issue of climate change in a positive, yet tough minded and practical way. She is a person who makes a difference by reaching people through her unique mix of knowledge--biblical and scientific, compassion, wisdom, and practical sense.

Dr. Hayhoe didn't need the WEA to become a global ambassador for climate change, she was already operating in this capacity as an exemplary scholar, advocate, and Christian in this arena. Rather, the WEA asked Dr. Hayhoe if we could bless her by supporting her work on climate change--which we view as a mutual task keeping global temperature rise as low as possible--and encouraging the global evangelical community to do the same. The WEA is merely recognizing Dr. Hayhoe's God given gifts and vocation, which we acknowledge are not only for the evangelical community she is an active member of, but for all Christ's church, all peoples of the world, and all God's creatures.

The WEA is grateful to work with Dr. Hayhoe who is able to assist the WEA's climate work through:

  • Providing scientific advice and council regarding climate change.
  • Sharing helpful resources she develops. See below.
  • Collaborating on select climate projects.
  • Promoting the WEA's climate projects.

The WEA assists Dr. Hayhoe through:

  • Encouraging the evangelical community to pray for Dr. Hayhoe. See below.
  • Collaborating on select climate projects.
  • Promoting Dr. Hayhoe's events and work to the evangelical community, to the wider body of Christ, and to the world.
