UN Secretary-General to Convene “Climate Ambition Summit” in 2023
UN Secretary-General António Guterres announced he will convene a Climate Ambition Summit in September 2023 to generate "new, tangible and credible climate action" and "accelerate action at the mid-way point" of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Going forward, he said he will push for a Climate Solidarity Pact, calling on all big emitters to "make an extra effort" to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the 1.5°C goal, and to provide support for those who need it.
