Every year, the world produces mountains of rubbish — plastic that chokes rivers and oceans, food that is grown and then thrown away, packaging designed to be used once and discarded. This waste is not just an environmental problem; it is a matter of stewardship, justice, and love of neighbor, since it is often the poorest communities who live closest to landfills, waterways, and the consequences of pollution they did not create.

The Rubbish Campaign, run in partnership with Renew Our World, called on Christians and churches around the world to take practical steps to reduce their own waste and to add their voice calling for systemic change — pressing governments and businesses toward a world with far less throwaway culture and far more care for what God has made.

What the campaign asked

• Individuals and churches were invited to audit and reduce their own plastic and food waste.
• Supporters were asked to add their name to a public petition calling for stronger action on plastic pollution and food waste.
• Churches were encouraged to use the campaign as a teaching moment — connecting practical waste reduction to the biblical call to care for creation.
